Flow Movement | Fitness Model, Athlete and Pole Fitness Champion: Marlo Fisken HGP#35

I recently met up with fitness guru, Marlo Fisken, at Pole Expo in Las Vegas. She was gracious enough to share an hour of her time chatting with me about her company, Flow Movement, which is more than just a brand; it’s a lifestyle. Flow movement includes apparel line, Floor Flow tutorials and teacher training, pole work, Flowbility, and events + workshops that bring in guest teachers.

You may be wondering, what the heck is Flow? When we talk about Flow, we mean the exciting feeling of being in the zone. Flow is defined as an “optimal state of consciousness where we feel our best and perform our best.” Experts say only 5% of workers spend their time in a blissful, high-productivity work state. Imagine the impacts on your performance and mood if you could increase your work flow!

Flow doesn’t just heighten creativity in the moment, it heightens it over the long haul. In other words, being in flow actually trains us to be more creative. Marlo gushes on the importance movement has on our bodies. Movement is more than just moving our bodies; it encompasses the clothing we wear, the shoes on our feet, and the furniture we sit on.

Marlo’s goal is to help us into the environments we create for ourselves and think about what’s valued when it comes to movement. She would like to see more things that create movement. Think movement zones, interactive exhibits; things that get people to step outside of the sedentary lifestyle, off their phones, and moving.

Marlo has been dancing going on 30 years. She started competing in the sport of pole dancing in 2009 and has won 3 different titles:

She is most known for her creativity on the pole; creating moves that people have never seen before. Marlo travels seven months out of the year and currently resides in Boulder, Colorado, which she dubs a “movement bubble.”
